Motivational Quote of the Week

"Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have.” -Sanchita Pandey

Living in a modern society like the United States of America has it’s amazing aspects like: freedom of speech, economic mobility and the vast amounts of trades and occupations one can desire. Though one factor I believe can put a hinderance on your happiness and perspective of life, our consumerism culture. We rely on the consumption of goods and products for a majority of our economical wealth in this country. Though there are moments in time when we take our consumerism culture to the extreme, which usually can be seen during the holidays. Especially the day after Thanksgiving, a day where we’re supposed to be thankful for everything we have in our life. Yet the day after Thanksgiving we have Black Friday, a frenzied and chaotic day where people selfishly push past fellow human beings to obtain more goods. I’ve always found it odd how we spend a day with friends and family cherishing everything within our lives to only forget about gratitude the day after. If we focus upon the next new product or material item too much we tend to forget the most important aspects of our lives. For no item should take priority over your friends, family, experiences, your life and this very moment. Items in our lives may enhance our experiences, but it’s upon the human experience that’ll make it memorable. This Thanksgiving have gratitude for everything in your life and try to not forget about it when you’re waiting in line the next day for that discounted item.
